Dr Dickon Bevington

I am an experienced Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with more than 30 years of (continuing) frontline NHS service, and nearly 20 years as Medical Director of Anna Freud, a major UK children’s mental health charity, from which I’ve recently stepped down.

As a leader in the field of Mentalization-based approaches to therapy, and co-founder of the AMBIT (Adaptive Mentalization-Based Integrative Treatment) approach to working with clients who present with multiple intersecting needs and high levels of risk, I have earned an international reputation as a health innovator, speaker, teacher, and author.

I am also a father, husband, poet, photographer, sometime mountaineer, motorcyclist and odd-job man, who restored - and for five years lived aboard - my seventy foot old narrowboat, Pavane.

Now that I have left Anna Freud, I’m able to offer a limited amount of private supervision, training, teaching, consultation and public speaking.

Even if there is something you think I can help with that isn’t listed under Services above, do please contact me and we can talk!
